European football leagues will start the new season on Friday

ANKARA

The 2022-23 football season in England, France, Germany and Turkey will start with matches on Friday.

In the English Premier League, Arsenal will visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in London.

Arsenal fans can’t wait to see several new faces against Crystal Palace.

This summer, Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, Ukrainian left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko and Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira joined the Gunners.

Jesus and Zinchenko previously played for Manchester City, and Vieira was signed from Porto.

All of these are expected to make their Arsenal debuts unless there are injuries.

The Crystal Palace game against Arsenal will start at 19:00 GMT.

The French championship will start with the match Lyon vs Ajaccio

Olympique Lyonnais will face Ajaccio in the first round at home for the opener of the top-flight French Ligue 1.

The match at Groupama Stadium in Decines-Charpieu near Lyon will start at 19:00 GMT.

Lyon had plenty of signings in the 2022 summer transfer window as French midfielder Corentin Tolisso and compatriot Alexandre Lacazette returned to the club.

Tolisso was Bayern Munich’s midfielder in 2017-22, while Lyon-born Lacazette previously played for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Argentinian left-back Nicolas Tagliafico arrived in Lyon from Dutch club Ajax in July.

Bayern Munich will face Eintracht Frankfurt in an away game

German 2022 champions Bayern Munich will face Eintracht Frankfurt in an away match as Germany’s 60th Bundesliga kicks off.

The season opener at Deutsche Bank Park will begin at 6:30 p.m. GMT.

This summer, Polish star Lewandowski, who was a longtime Bayern Munich striker, joined Barcelona. The Bavarian club may miss him.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who won the UEFA Europa League title in May, have signed Norwegian winger Jens Petter Hauge permanently from AC Milan.

In addition to him, Eintracht Frankfurt have also acquired Argentina striker Lucas Alario from Bayer Leverkusen and signed German midfielder Mario Gotze.

Gotze, winner of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, was a Bayern Munich midfielder in 2013-2016. He later returned to his boyhood club Borussia Dortmund.

He last played for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

Trabzonspor will face newly promoted Istanbulspor

Reigning Turkish champions Trabzonspor travel to Istanbulspor in the season opener of the Turkish Spor Toto Super Lig.

This summer, Trabzonspor have strengthened their squad with Danish right-back Jens Stryger Larsen and Egyptian winger Trezeguet.

Trezeguet is familiar in Türkiye as he previously played for Super Lig clubs Kasimpasa and Medipol Basaksehir.

The 27-year-old left Aston Villa in England to become a Trabzonspor player in July.

Trabzonspor’s opponents Istanbulspor were back in the Super Lig in June.

They last played in the Turkish top division in the 2004-05 season.
