Emerson Lotzia:

What is your strategy for Week 1 Geoff at the close end of the race?

Geoff Ulrich:

Ah, you know what it is! It’s kicked! Cheap close end of season, friends! You have about 20 weeks where Pearce and I breed guys you’ve never heard of that cost $2500.

Let’s start at the top. These are cheap tight ends – as with Andrews, Kelce, we regularly see these $8,000 guys at some point of the year. But for Week 1, paying for a tight end might be slightly contrary to everyone trying to stuff those running backs – something to think about.

But I really think a guy like Brevin Jordan at $3100 is like the perfect setup. They’re going to be behind, they’re going to throw. Indianapolis was one of the bottom five teams in terms of tight end defense last year. They lost Matt Eberflus. So I’m looking at Brevin Jordan, who could potentially position himself as the No. 2 receiver in an offense under Pep Hamilton, who likes to use multiple tight sets.

It’s probably my favorite game right now on the cheap – we looked at those salaries five minutes ago, but Brevin Jordan at $3100 I think a player who’s very much alive for Week 1 and probably will talk a ton. But you know what? We do not care? I think for cheap tight ends right now, that’s where it’s at.
