Gators offer RB Anthony Carrie 2024 again

Four-star running back Anthony Carrie was recently re-offered by the Florida Gators’ new coaching staff, according to Gators Online.

The Carrollwood Day (Tampa, Fla.) rookie impressed coaches during July camp, which he partially attended due to the upcoming season. He and teammate Bredell Richardson, a four-star receiver ranked No. 77 overall in the class, performed individual coaching drills and both received offers for the second time.

“I like the new staff,” Carrie said. “I always try to get an idea of them. Before Bredell and I went there, Florida wasn’t recruiting us as hard as the last staff, so we’re trying to get a feel for them. It was nice to be around them and be driven by them.

One of the coaches Carrie has worked closely with is running backs coach Jabbar Juluke. The two shared a moment after an exercise went wrong. Carrie, who considers herself an elite running back, decided to delay a route after seeing the other rookies running straight for the post. His reasoning was that a linebacker would be able to read it easily and in the game he would wait longer to make his cut.

This discouraged Juluke and the two did not connect, but Carrie quickly apologized and explained the thought process. Juluke responded with “be you” and seemed to realize that Carrie had a better understanding of position than other kids at her level. It’s the kind of moment that makes a coach and player want to work together, and Carrie is confident he’s proven himself in camp.

But he’s always slowing things down and not saving a spot in his top 10 for orange and blue until he’s sure about things. This will take a bit more effort from UF. He plans to visit for a game in the fall, but his schedule is far from final.

“I’m not sure yet. I’m just starting to get an idea of them,” Carrie said. 10 now. I have to see how they do this year on the pitch; I got to see how the culture is and I want to see them recruit me a bit more.
