Some thoughts (excluding football) on fall sports

Inland Lakes volleyball players celebrate a point during a regional semi-final in Onaway last season. The Bulldogs are coming off a regional championship and their first-ever appearance in a state title game last fall.

Well, we’re almost there. Autumn sports, finally!

As usual, summer has flown by, but I (and I’m sure many of you) have really enjoyed the beautiful weather we’ve had over the past two months.

But at some point, especially if you’re from that area, that anticipation for fall sports returns.

Soccer, volleyball, cross country, soccer, golf, whatever. It’s always fun when that time of year rolls around, and I certainly look forward to the nice months of September and October, when we see great competition and pretty solid weather, as well as November, when it’s a bit cold outside but the competition intensifies further with the addition of fun post-season sports.

Of course, football always seems to be the talk of the town in many of these small towns, but I’m here because I’m willing to give some thoughts on other sports in the area, the teams in the area and what it will look like over the next few months.
