The best Korean dramas to watch

Itaewon-class (2020)

Ex-convict Park Sae-Ro-Yi struggles to make his dreams come true with the help of his friends.

This series is intense, exciting, emotional and inspiring; is probably one of my favorite korean dramas of all time.

The soundtrack is also very good, I have it downloaded on Spotify ?

The series has one season and you can watch it on Netflix!

Extracurricular - Korean Series on Netflix Canada

A talented high school student turns to crime to help pay for college.

It’s an interesting series in which the main character is an antihero!

If you liked the Netflix series Baby (I liked it until I found out it was based on real events), you will definitely like it extracurricular (which is purely fictional).

The actor who plays the main character, Dong-Hee Kim, also stars in Itaewon-class!

There is also only one season for this show, and you can stream it on Netflix.

PD (2021)

Shortly after joining the army, a young soldier becomes a DP, hunting down army deserters and bringing them back.

It’s set in 2014, which was apparently a time when a lot of dark things about military life surfaced (according to Reddit).

A heavy theme in this K-drama is bullying and hazing, and it’s incredibly heartbreaking to watch knowing these things actually happen.

Apparently they started allowing soldiers to have cell phones sometime in 2019 or 2020 so bullying is not What bad as it used to be, which I guess is also why the series is set in 2014 and not today.

I had no expectations going in PD and it was such a fantastic drama series.

Everything about this show is absolutely on point: the writing, the acting, the casting, the cinematography, everything.

There are only 6 episodes in the first season, but the second season is coming to Netflix!

crash landing on you (2020)

crash landing on you It quickly became one of the most successful Korean dramas of all time after it was released on Netflix, and it’s very good.

This romantic series is about a South Korean heiress and CEO who accidentally paraglides into North Korea and meets a handsome soldier.

It is a love story that has its tearful and heartfelt moments.

The production team was mentored by actual North Korean defectors for the show, making it the closest portrayal of real life North Korea that exists in the media, which is possibly part of why it has become so popular! !

Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area (2022)

I have intended to see the original Spanish money theft for a long time and of course I enjoyed this Korean remake when it premiered on Netflix.

It is set in the near future in a unified Korea, where a group of specialized thieves reach the mint and confront the police.

The cast is amazing and Park Hae-soo’s squid game stars on it!

Only 6 episodes are available right now, and there’s no telling when the next 6 will come out.

My name (2021)

After her father is murdered, a young woman trusts a crime boss to get revenge on her father’s killer.

My name it’s action packed and pretty gory, and reminds me a bit of both john wick Y The Punisher.

Han So Hee from Nevertheless (a great Korean romantic drama on Netflix) stars, and it’s very interesting to see her in a completely different role (and kill him)!

Flower of Evil (2020)

Baek Hee Sung seems to be living the perfect life with his loving detective wife and their little daughter.

When a series of unexplained murders occur, the secrets of his past begin to come to light.

This story is wild and will leave you constantly wondering what is going on.

The show has one season and you can stream it on Viki!

beyond evil (2021)

A murder occurs in the small town of Munju reminiscent of a cold case from 20 years ago, and two detectives search for the truth behind it all.

It’s kind of a slower clock, but that just means you get to know the characters a lot better.

The actors are amazing too and have fantastic chemistry!

I’ve heard that the series is even better when you watch it again and know everything that’s going on, but I haven’t gotten to that yet.

There’s a season to the show, and you can watch it on Netflix!

squid game (2021)

squid game is actually the most watched series on Netflix of all time, and it’s a fantastic show.

It is about a group of people who compete in games against each other for a chance to win a big prize.

While it’s not scary, it does have some pretty gory scenes!

A second season has been confirmed, although I personally think it would have been great as a single season.

if you enjoy squid gamethere is also a great Japanese program that is quite similar called alice on the border That’s on Netflix too!

Kingdom (2019-2020)

There are endless zombie movies and TV shows, but if we’re honest, most of them suck.

Kingdom is a South Korean TV series set in ancient Korea, and it will have you pulling the blanket over your face.

In KingdomA mysterious plague makes its way through the kingdom as the crown prince tries to save his people.

Oh, and zombies run fast, which is my worst nightmare when it comes to zombie shows.

It was actually the first Netflix original series from South Korea, which is crazy because there are so many now!

There is also a movie in the same universe called Kingdom: Northern Ashinwhich serves as a prequel to the entire series.

Best Korean Dramas To Watch:

  1. Itaewon-class
  2. extracurricular
  3. PD
  4. crash landing on you
  5. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area
  6. My name
  7. flower of evil
  8. beyond evil
  9. squid game
  10. Kingdom

These were some of the best Korean dramas to watch, in my personal opinion!

Most Korean dramas only have one season, so they are basically very long and stretched out movies.

Some K-dramas even have episodes that are an hour and a half long, which is pretty crazy!

I guess that’s why they’re so addictive: you really get into the characters’ stories when you watch them for so long.
