In the event of inclement weather, especially lightning in the area, the team will move their scrum indoors, making the event closed to the public.
Second year head coach Blake Anderson will lead his team through a roughly two-hour scrum and can’t wait to see his players compete live.
“We’ve got a lot of guys that we need to see tackle live,” Anderson said. “Everything, for the most part, has been whistled quickly so far. We have to see big bodies pushing each other. We have to see guys in space attacking the ground. With those, we have a good idea of what they can do, but there are a lot of twos and threes that are in the mix and fighting for position, and we need to find out what they can do without the coaches not tell them exactly what to do with each snap. It will be a good test for We will probably have 65 or 70 snaps with each group and hopefully the weather will hold where we can get that and see everyone well.
Anderson also said the scrimmage will be devoted to open-field scenarios — likely between the 30-yard lines — with normal downs and distance, as well as third downs. They will not spend time inside the 10-yard line.
Utah State will also host a scrimmage on Saturday, August 13 at 2 p.m. as part of its Family Fun Day.
