What to Know About Holy Cross, Kentucky Country Day

Here is an overview of the Louisville-area Class A high school football teams:

Sainte-Croix (9-4 in 2021)

Coach: Eric Dick (third season, 16-6 record)

Attack (6 runners back): The Cougars return their all-around quarterback in 6-foot-3 senior Chris Perry, who passed for 1,382 yards and 22 touchdowns last season and also led the team in rushing (630 yards, seven touchdowns). Four starters are back in action – senior Lukas Emberton and juniors Dylan Jacobs, Caleb Phillips and Jakub Brown. Jacobs was a pick in every district last year. Junior wide receiver Joey Foushee (31 catches, 355 yards, six TDs) is back, but the Cougars need to find more playmakers after top receiver Nate Siegrist graduates.

Holy Cross head coach Eric Dick shouted at his players during the first half against Bethlehem in the Class A district final on Saturday November 28, 2020.

Defense (7 starters behind): The unit allowed a respectable 17 points per game last season, posted two shutouts and returned its top tackle in senior linebacker Tyler Ballard (122 tackles, 81 solo, 34 tackles for loss, 13 sacks). He has an offer from Wilmington College. Senior winger Luke McCubbins added 14 sacks last year. Dick is excited about a secondary that brings back three starters in junior cornerback Jayse Hardesty and junior safeties Logan McClellan and Foushee. McClellan and Foushee both had three interceptions in 2021.
